Rollers 101 by Runner Susan

This blog post and drill of the day was inspired by my dear friend and training buddy RunnerSusan. This is called rollers and it is used by cyclist. I don't know alot about it except that I rode 1 mile on them today and thought I was going to die. I didn't die due to the awesome teachings of RunnerSusan. Thanks Suz for the excellent training you provided. Now if someone wants to give $1,000.00 so that I can buy my own set of rollers I would gladly take it.

Contribute or Contaminate

I have been talking alot about diet this week with it being the new year and all. I seem to sing the praises of eating healthy and eating food that is not processed. The more man has to do with it the worse it seems to be. I have come up with a phrase that just seems to stick in my mind and it is this: Contribute don't Contaminate! I can't think of a better way to describe how you should be eating. Foods that contaminate would be any thing that is overly processed, comes from a drive thru window or you can put gravy on it! Hey it is Texas and we do put gravy on everything. A more substantial list would be soda, fried foods, sugary sticky foods, foods made with white flour, full fat dairy and again things that you pick up in a drive thru window. All of these items sit in your stomach and do nothing to nourish your body.
Foods that contribute would be whole grains, fresh fruits and vegetables, lean cuts of meat, poultry and fish, low fat dairy items and plain water. These foods will distribute through the body and make you feel GREAT not BLOATED!
The next time you are at the grocery store or making dinner or sitting down for dinner just think...Contribute don't Contaminate!

Squatting Properly

Proper Squat Technique from Cindy Helm on Vimeo.

Squats are one of the best exercises that you can do for the lower body. We are talking legs and booty here and I am all about making that smaller and firmer. Less is more when it comes to junk in the trunk and legs. Squats can be very dangerous and you can really hurt yourself if you do them incorrectly. I have been bugging Denny to death about making a video that shows the peeps of the work-out world just how to do a squat and to do it well. I hope that you will take 6 minutes and watch this video because it is worth your time. I have also bugged Denny to death about starting his own blog and guess what...he did it. Check out Denny's blog when you get a minute. It is entertaining and if I have my way will continue to be very informative as well. Enjoy!
